How to Set Up an Email Autoresponder
Creating Automatic Replies
Send automatic responses when you receive email (vacation messages, confirmations, etc.).
Creating an Autoresponder
- Log into DirectAdmin
- Click Email Autoresponders
- Select the email address
- Click Create Autoresponder
- Enter your message
- Set start and end dates (optional)
- Click Create
Autoresponder Settings
- From: Your email address
- Subject: Subject line for auto-reply
- Message: The automatic response text
- Start/End Date: When to activate (optional)
Example Vacation Message
Thank you for your email! I am currently out of the office with limited access to email. I will return on [DATE] and respond to your message then. For urgent matters, please contact [ALTERNATE CONTACT]. Best regards, [Your Name]
Best Practices
- Keep messages professional and brief
- Include when you'll return
- Provide alternate contact for urgent matters
- Remember to turn it off when you return!
- Don't include sensitive information
Note on Spam
Autoresponders typically don't reply to messages marked as spam or bulk email.
