How to Back Up Your Emails
Saving Your Email Messages
Back up your emails to prevent data loss.
Method 1: Using Email Client
Configure an email client (Outlook, Thunderbird) with IMAP:
- Add your email account
- Let it sync all folders
- Export to PST (Outlook) or use local folders
Method 2: Webmail Export
In Roundcube:
- Select messages to export
- Click More > Download
- Choose format (EML, MBOX)
Method 3: JetBackup
JetBackup can restore emails from automatic backups:
- Log into DirectAdmin
- Open JetBackup
- Select Email Accounts
- Choose backup date and restore
Backup Schedule Recommendations
- Important accounts: Weekly full backup
- Regular use: Monthly backup
- Archives: Before deleting old emails
Storage Locations
- External hard drive
- Cloud storage (Google Drive, Dropbox)
- Local computer
Tips
- Test restoring backups occasionally
- Keep multiple backup copies
- Store backups in different locations
